Era
Here the focus is on historical periods, tracing how the Bible emerged, was transmitted, and interpreted across time. Special attention is given to the contexts in which key writings and traditions took shape.
For the purposes of this website I define "eastern" and "western" literature has divided between Armenia down into Mt Sinai. With anything west of these places called "western" (i.e. Contantinope and Carthage) and anything east of those places called "eastern" (i.e. Edessa and Muziris). On the other hand "northern" and "southern" is divided by Jerusalem. With anything north of Jerusalem (i.e. Antioch or Caesarea or Babylon) being northern, and anything south of Jerusalem (i.e. Alexandria or Aksum or Luxor) being called southern.
The boundaries of such nomenclature move over time. I hope the "Era" divisions I made help show how the east/west and north/south were shaped by different cultures, languages, and priorities of values and traditions. Therefore the "bibles" or "holy scriptures" vary by region and time.
