Galatians
Written by the Apostle Paul, the letter addresses the issue of certain teachers from Jerusalem who were telling Gentile converts they needed to be circumcised and follow other Mosaic laws to be made righteous and saved from sin.
The greek words Ergon Nomou (Works of the Law) [Galatians 2:15] are contrasted with the Charin Tou Theo (Grace of God) [Galatians 2:21]. The energy performed by creatures (i.e. man) through obedience to the Torah is not equivalent to the energy performed by the Creator (i.e. God) through faith in Jesus Christ. In other words, the chrisma (anointing or chrismation) [1 John 2:20;27] and the Chriou (anointment) [Luke 4:18; Acts 10:38; 2 Cor 1:21; Hebrews 1:9) are required for salvation when entering and receiving the energy by the Son of God from the Father through the Spirit. Mere rituals or performances (operas) without grace of God do not warrant justification from sin and therefore the Apostle Paul emphasizes Pisteos (Faith) and the role of the Holy Spirit and the Unity of the Church (among Judeans and Gentiles).
