4 Maccabees

This title was suggested by early 4th century Church writers like Eusebius and Jerome, who attributed the work to Josephus. It is consistent with Greek philosophical works of the period, such as Seneca's treatises on ethics, notes the Wikipedia article. A different book called "Pseudo-Josephus" or "Pseudo-Hegesippus" is helpful to understand a 4th century Christian free paraphrase about "The Jewish War" by Flavius Josephus. Another distinct text sometimes referred to as "Pseudo-Josephus" is a 10th-century Hebrew (non-Christian) chronicle known as Josippon (or Sefer Yosippon), which also presents a condensed version of Josephus's history
