Theophilus of Antioch
Three books trying to persuade Autolycus, an idolater and scorner of Christians. The Apologia addressed to Autolycus; Against Marcion; Against the heresy of Hermogenes. Quote referencing the Mystery (Sacrament) of unction: "are you unwilling to be anointed with the oil of God? Wherefore we are called Christians on this account because we are anointed with the oil of God." According to the Eastern Orthodox Church, Theophilus of Antioch was a saint, early Church Father, and Bishop of Antioch from approximately 169–183 A.D. He is venerated for his role as an apologist who defended Christianity against paganism and for his significant theological contributions, most notably being the first known Christian writer to use a term equivalent to "Trinity" in reference to Book II, chapter 15: "God, his Word, and his Wisdom" otherwise the Father, his Son, and his Spirit. "...of the Triad, of Theos, of His Logos, and of His Sofia." i.e. "τῆς τριάδος, τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοῦ λόγου αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς σοφίας αὐτοῦ."
