Numbers
The LXX calls the book Arithmoi, which means "Numbers" or "Censuses" in Greek. This name is used in the English title because the book prominently features several numbered lists, particularly the population counts and tribal censuses in chapters 1-4 and 26.
The DSS starts the Book of Numbers with the word Bemidbar, but they call numbers using the Hebrew numerals system, where each Hebrew letter is assigned a numerical value (1-10, then tens, then hundreds), a system also used for gematria, a form of Jewish numerology.
The SP calls this scroll "In the Desert of Sinai", following the tradition of most ancient sources that held no chapters or verses but rather identified a thought or sequence by naming the opening line.
