Leviticus

The LXX calls this Leuitiko, which means "things concerning the Levites". This Greek title was given because much of the book's content deals with the duties and concerns of the priests from the tribe of Levi.

The DSS calls this Vayikra, which means "And He Called". This name is taken from the first word of the book, referring to God calling out to Moses. It is also known by the more formal rabbinic name Torat Kohanim, meaning "the law of priests."

The SP calls this scroll "And He Called unto Moses", following the tradition of most ancient sources that held no chapters or verses but rather identified a thought or sequence by naming the opening line.

Leviticus was written by Moses at the foot of Mount Sinai, during the Israelites' year-long stay there after the Exodus from Egypt, detailing laws for worship and holy living as they prepared for their wilderness journey and entry into the Promised Land. While the content reflects this 15th-century BC setting I tried to make an image depicting High Priest Aaron dressed in gems and colorful vestments surrounded by Levitical priests dressed with white turban and white robes. I show Aaron with an Almond Staff in his right hand, and two stone tablets in his left hand, with a jar of white manna by his feet standing and facing the rising sun to the east. The words "holiness code", "ritual and worship", and "Love God and Love your Neighbor" around the boarders on north, west, and south perimenter of art recall the command of Jesus Messiah. Show the image with Assyrian Oriental Orthodox styles of colors and Mt Sinai looming to the west side with dark clouds at the top of mount Sinai to bring to mind the 40 days of fasting and fear of God. Unfortunately AI is unable to redraw Paleo-Hebrew alphabet, so the script on the Torah tablets are depicted in Aramaic even though that langage wouldn't be developed till after the Priest Ezra and the events of 1 Esdras later in 5th century.
