Prophet foresees the Forerunner

The messenger (angel) prophet proposes repentance, predicts the Messiah and His Forerunner, and also the Last Judgment. Between Malachi and John would be a series of Apocalyptic literature and Second Temple Judaism expanding across north Africa, south Europe, and west Asia. Apolytikion: "As we celebrate the memory of Thy Prophet Malachi, O Lord, through him we beseech Thee to save our souls." Today you can still visit burial place of Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi. See map below. Jews still venerate the saints at this site. Veneration is a practice the Church inherited from Second Temple Judaism.
