Script Type: Insular majuscule (or Insular half-uncial), a script originating in Irish monasteries.
Layout: The text is frequently interrupted by elaborate, stylized decoration, making it a masterpiece of Insular illumination. A future English translation (1611) would be based on a contemporary set of books under the name Codex Basilensis from the 8th-12th centuries.
