Welcome to the Atlas Bible
Tracing the journey of the Bible and Church through time and place
My Mission
To inform people how the bible moved through the ages by providing geographic maps and linking content.
Exploration
What began as a personal project of study and reflection has grown into a resource I felt compelled to share with the world. This site was created to trace the story of how the Bible and the Church have moved through history - shaped by geography, culture, and time. By combining maps, timelines, and linked content, my goal is to make complex history more accessible and engaging for anyone wanting to learn more about the Bible and how the Church interpreted it through an Eastern Orthodox lens.
The collection of maps and historical content provides a unique glimpse into the implementation of biblical texts, the composition of books, and the dissemination of sources over time. My approach focuses on making biblical history accessible and engaging for individuals of all ages who are interested in exploring the rich narratives and artifacts that define the biblical heritage.
Whether you’re a curious beginner, a student of history, or someone seeking to deepen your understanding, we invite you to explore how texts, writings, and communities spread and transformed across the ages.

Maps
Interactive Live Maps & Static Maps
My interactive maps aim to bring biblical history to life as they shown within a current Google Map.Each map tells a unique story, offering users a glimpse into the historical context. These maps serve as reference points for understanding the geographic setting of events and can be used alongside other study resources on the site

Galleries
Historical depictions & Art
My galleries showcase historical depictions and artwork that illustrate the rich visual story of biblical and church history. Each collection highlights unique interpretations, offering users a deeper sense of the time, culture, and meaning behind key events and figures. These curated images serve as visual reference points and complement the maps and study resources found throughout the site

Directory
Exploring the Bible and its history can take many forms, so the material is organized into three main sections for easier navigation

About Content Creator
I am Edgar Martin Soltero-Flores. At church I was baptized Isaac in honor of my patron saint. I was raised in San Jose by a slightly Roman Catholic background for early childhood but from my 20s onward was basically Southern Baptist and for a year or so non-denominational (evangelical). My profession is construction (project management). My hobby is history. Before high school I would spend hours reading fantasy books and traveling different imaginary worlds, and see through the eyes of other minds who shaped the future. When I got into high school I transitioned to more secular, political, and philosophical categories of thought, and therefore my books let me travel historical places in this world, and I could see through the eyes of other minds who shaped the past.
Perhaps my upbringing helped me make connections between symbols and morality and meaning, and the merging with my high school and college years allowed for integration of patterns of power, jurisdiction, and success. In an effort to show an alternative perspective which is commonly found in the west, I have explored some of the east through the lens of an Orthodox Christian "phromena." Since the Orthodox communities are decentralized, it is different and more nuanced, than the Roman Catholic or Protestant mindset - which for the last 1200 years (and 500 years) more "western" or "uniform" in some aspects. So I understand some of the content has various sources or diverse perspectives on my site. Yet due to lack of Orthodox materials online, I hope this project reaches many people in the west to supplement and inform the view of the bible, its origins and development, through history from people to people and culture to culture. I have done this project for fun. It is not intended for academic purposes, but it could lead to academic sources if you find keywords or unique aspects on this site.
For a more intellectual, or a mystical, source I suggest reading the books, or participating in the activities, of Vladimir Lossky, Georges Florovsky, Alexander Schmemann, Dumitru Staniloae, John Zizioulas, David Bentley Hart, Christos Yannaras, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mrs Sophie Koulomzin, Father Stephen De Young and the Religion of the Apostles, St. John of Shanghai & San Francisco, St. Alexis Toth of Wilkes-Barre, PA, St. Herman of Alaska, St. Nikolai Kasatkin of Japan, St. Païsios the Athonite, St. Raphael of Brooklyn, St Luke the Surgeon, St. Xenia of St. Petersburg, St. Nikiphoros the Leper, St. Joseph the Hesychast, St. Olga of Alaska, or St. John of Kronstadt. Please check out my youtube channel where I have tried to catalog some topics on the Orthodox Christian faith, which help look back at history and make sense of the maps, eras, and books in this website..

Acknowledgments
I give credit and sincere thanks to those who contributed to this project, which provides educational content on biblical maps, eras, and book descriptions. The diverse backgrounds, technical skills, and thoughtful dialogue of many individuals helped shape the sequence, structure, and style of this website.
I am especially grateful to my beloved wife, Sieun Soltero Park, for her continued support throughout this project.
I also thank the map designer, Janai Blowers, creator of the aesthetic eras, as well as her husband and children. My thanks extend to Andrew Corrales for encouraging the transition from spreadsheets and word documents into a consolidated website format.
I am thankful to the Very Reverend Father Moheen Hanna for blessing this project and for supporting the goal of making biblical resources available online from an Orthodox perspective. This work seeks to supplement existing online material by providing broader historical and theological context to enrich the diverse and historic traditions of Samaritans, Judeans, Protestants, and Catholics.
I thank Alexandra Eisner-Gordon for her guidance in webpage preparation, formatting, and the backend and frontend elements that help make this website a pleasant experience for visitors.
